One of the reasons I love Moodle and its use of the GPL license is that it represents one of the few significance stands against a web based on commercial advertising and user surveillance. Perhaps Wikipedia is the other exception to that trend. I was interested to read this article "Reading the LMS against the Backdrop of Critical Pedagogy".

The authors never use one word where they can think of 10 and in my view any tools can be used for good or bad. The freedom that Moodle gives us allows us to choose to use it for good (whatever that is).
