How to backup courses

Hi All,

We are using Moodle 3.2.1+ (Build: 20170112)

I am trying to backup or export courses from the server, but struggling to do so.

I have seen several links that discuss how to do this, but none of the options listed are visible/available when I'm logged into our site.

Here's some of the links I'm referencing:

https://kb.swarthmore.edu:8443/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=17989646

Based on the youtube video, there should be a gear icon in the upper right corner of the course.

Youtube screenshot:

But when I go to a course, I don't see anything like that:

Am I just overlooking where to access the Backup function?

Hi Nick,

I guess that you have not logged in through an admin / teacher role.

However, you can simply access this page with this url -

<your-moodle-url>/backup/backup.php?id=2

id=2  is the id of your course that you see on course view page - <your-moodle-url>/backup/view.php?id=2

If you have logged in through a proper role, you would get the page otherwise error of - Permission denied/Can't access the page.

Thanks,

Suraj

Correction: course view page url was written wrong.

id=2  is the id of your course that you see on course view page - <your-moodle-url>/course/view.php?id=2

Please check with backup url directly and let us know if it works for you

<your-moodle-url>/backup/backup.php?id=2

It appears you are correct, I am not logged in in whatever way is necessary to natively reach those options, but using the url as you defined did work!

Thanks!
