Moodle Desktop for 32 bit?

Moodle Desktop for 32 bit?

Hi all,

I'm working with several companies interested in Moodle Desktop, some however only have 32 bit processors.

Is 32 bit on the Moodle Desktop roadmap? If yes, when will it be released?

Thanks a lot

Monique

Hi Monique,

are you interested in any specific OS?

In the Moodle Desktop downloads page there is a 32 bits file for Windows 7 & 8 (I haven't tested if it works in Windows 10). It's a single file for 32 and 64 bits. You can download it with this link.

We're planning to release a 32 bits for Linux soon too, we're waiting for a bug to be fixed in the library we use for building. We'll probably create it with the next release of the app (end of this month).

I'm still checking if we can create 32 bits for Windows 10 (store) and MacOS.

Kind regards,

Dani

Hi Dani,

Cool, thanks a lot for tournaments reply. Good to know that Moodle Desktop will be available for 32 and 64 but for different OSS!

Another quick question regrading Moodle Desktop: do Moodle plugins e.g. Certificates or ranking block work on Moodle Desktop too if they are installed on the Moodle LMS? Or do we need to custom build these plugins for Moodle Desktop?

Thanks you!! Monique

Hi Monique,

by default, external plugins are not supported in Moodle Desktop and Moodle Mobile. However, some of them can be supported in the app if the plugin contains a remote addon (e.g. the certificate module contains it, so it will work in Moodle Desktop). The app doesn't support blocks right now, so the ranking block would be harder to be supported.

Remote addons should be created by the maintainers of the plugin.

You can find more info in here:

Kind regards,

Dani

Mary C does some great YouTube videos explaining Moodle features. Do you know if there is any kind of video overview of what Moodle Desktop is?

Hi John,

there isn't any AFAIK, but the features are exactly the same as in Moodle Mobile so you might check if anyone did any video about Moodle Mobile.

We'll redesign the app soon, so I'll suggest doing some videos once the redesign is done.

Kind regards,

Dani
