Relative URL's not accepted when added via as Activity or Resource

Hi there,

I am running a vanilla Moodle 3.3 on Debian Linux 9 and have the following issue:

Our full "learning" system is composed of Moodle, Mediawiki and a simulation-tool based on Python+Django. The three services are running on the same system (e.g. example.com below) under

  1. https://example.com/moodle
  2. https://example.com/wiki
  3. https://example.com/sim

The systems generally interlink each other via "relative" links, e.g. /sim/some/simulation, rather than https:// with a FQDN.

I am almost 100% certain that I in the past (earlier versions of moodle, e.g. 2.x?) was able to add this type of relative url via "Add activity or resource" and the URL plugin,  but I am now told to "Enter a URL", see attached screenshot.

Is there a way to come about this requirement for a "complete" URL with https://, bells and whistles? I looked in the plugin admin configuration, but found nothing that I feel is relevant...

Anything other to do than hack the php code (which I would really not like...) or use a nasty DB search and replace after adding FQDN type URLs?

Best and thanks,

Peter
