Is it Possible to Restrict Teacher Access to Gradebook Settings?

Is it Possible to Restrict Teacher Access to Gradebook Settings?

Hello,

We are on 3.2 and urgently need to set some restrictions to the teacher role but I don't know how.

Can anyone please provide some guidance on how to 'lock down' grade book settings to the teacher role. We are having a lot of problems with our grade book settings which seems to be due to manual errors by our teachers.

Is there any way I can restrict access to Teachers in the grade book set up? Is there a setting where admin can put a blanket restriction across the whole site to avoid teachers changing their grade book settings?

Thanks in Advance!

Hi,

so you don't want teachers  to manipulate grade book settings.

I would try to remove some grade-related roles of teachers (according to https://docs.moodle.org/32/en/Teacher_role#Changing_Teacher_Permissions ) .

What teachers permissions should be deactivated ? I think at least these: https://docs.moodle.org/32/en/Capabilities/moodle/grade:edit and https://docs.moodle.org/32/en/Capabilities/moodle/grade:manage

Maybe this also: https://docs.moodle.org/32/en/Capabilities/moodle/grade:manageletters

Good luck !

Hi Melissa,

For further information on changing gradebook permissions as suggested by Miro, please see Simplifying the gradebook by changing permissions.

You can also force certain grade settings so teachers can't change them, and hide them, in 'Grade category settings' in the Site administration.
