Is it possible to link activities/resources to each other in a topic so that once activity 1 has been completed it automatically brings the user to activity 2 instead of automatically bringing the user back to the course’s main page?

You could add links to the next activity . So...quiz overall feedback includes a link to the next activity (maybe a lesson), and that activity includes a link to the next, etc. The only one I think won't link well is SCORM--it will automatically redirect to the course home. It might not be ideal, but it would work. If you copy courses over for new years, you would have to fix the links for each one, but it would function.
There are a couple course formats that might do that as well. One Topic and Grid are two I've looked at. Maybe Buttons. Those three look...promising.
