On our Moodle page we use groups on the frontpage. Ideally we would like to sync these groups to existing cohorts. Unfortunately though, the enrolment methods are missing for the frontpage course. I looked into all the settings to see if I could change this somehow, but to no avail.
All help and ideas for setting up cohort-sync for frontpage groups are welcome.

Sorry, it has been a long time since. Unfortunately I still have not found an elegant solution.
The workaround we use is to enroll students by making use of a csv file. The csv enrolls them into a specific cohort as well as the corresponding group on the frontpage. However when there is a mistake of some sort or a student switches to another group, we have to make changes in both the cohort as the frontpage group. It would be so much easier when we could sync these.

Have you ever tried the "Auto-create groups" option? It doesn't sync automatically the cohort users to the front page but would let you to create/upgrade these groups using the cohorts. More information: https://docs.moodle.org/34/en/Groups#Group_members
