Acollab passwords and security?

Hello Moodlers,

I've been experimenting with ACollab (http://www.atutor.ca/acollab/index.php) ...I've removed the forum, chat, and email features so that it works as a simple, very nice little program for document storage and collaboration on papers between students and teachers.  If I had the abilities, I would work on making this a module for Moodle, but that's a bit beyond my programming skill level, so I'm just considering using it in addition to Moodle. I have noticed though, that the user passwords in the ACollab database are not encrypted like in Moodle. Other than the obvious fact that the web admin can see all user passwords in the database, is this cause for concern from a security perspective?

I would love to figure out a way to have ACollab integrate with Moodle or at least authenticate against the Moodle database, but I haven't figured that one out yet.

Steve
