I am using the email authentication and "emailadmin" authentication plugins. I want to "strongly encourage" -- ideally require -- users to enter an alternate name so I can hide their real names and other identifying information. Also, I don't want to create a custom field but rather show the alternatename field in the signup form.
Is this possible? It would be great if there were an admin UI somewhere that supported
this, but from searches in the community forums it looks like there is
not.
I don't mind hacking a core Moodle file if need be -- if it's a small hack that I can remake again as we upgrade Moodle in the future-- and if someone can tell me how. I looked through various files in the /user directory, but it looks too dangerous for me to risk editing the code with no further information.
