I've followed a number of enrolment tutorials and believe I have everything set up correctly for students to enrol using Paypal.

However, when I try to test this (after clearing the theme cache and logging out as an admin), when I click on a Course, expecting to see the notice saying that I will have to pay, I am taken to the login page.

Does anyone know what I have done wrong?

Nothing wrong, but Moodle and PayPal need to know who you are.

The moment Moodle knows who you are and what course will be payed, it can send this information to PayPal to start the transaction. Because a PayPal login or email is not necessarily equal to a Moodle login or email, this identification is needed. Otherwise PayPal would only be able to send ''somebody payed for your course'.  With all information, the correct user will be enrolled after a successful payment in the correct course.
