I have it on an older version, maybe its not working on 3.3. This site uses social login, maybe they have disabled email confirmation via 0Auth2? Anyway social login is included in 3.4 base, and the possibility to disable email confirmation should be fixed in november :O)

Please see my post a few hours back.
I upgraded to 3.4
Fb Login- works without email verification.
Self-enrolment with email verification, and Feb login with email verifn: Both I get an Error: they tried to send email but could not.
What are the SMTP settings? The previous ones worked.
Plugin 'Email based Self-registration' is not in the plugins now.
I tried with plugin Email-based self-registration with admin confirmation https://moodle.org/plugins/auth_emailadmin
but no email goes to the one who is signing up and site admin. I tried enabling in Local plugins/moodle welcome also.
