this time the "hint" button is working strange: instead of giving the correct letters of the answer it gives misterious numbers...any explaination of this?

Once again, in my website all looks to be working fine:
Notice that in my website (Moodle 1.5) I have V2.1 installed.
1) instead of letters, it gives a link (an audio file is what I had in mind).
2) the first press does not affect the grade.
But it occurs to me that perhaps this achieavable in Moodle's hot pot.
I would have a small budget
I remember a JCloze quiz of yours which had audio links for the "Clues" in a JCloze quiz. I liked that idea. Is that different from your idea (1)? I think the "Hint" button is envisaged to be a "next letter" button, so it would be awkward to try and force it do anything else.
For idea (2), probably the easiest shortterm solution would be to alter the HotPot templates on your site so that the first hint is always free for JCloze quizzes. This would involve a small change to "mod/hotpot/v6/source/jcloze6.js_", the ShowHint() function.
In the long-term, it may be desirable to alter the HotPot module so that teachers can define how the information about checks, hints and clues is to be combined to get a score for an attempt. This has been on my mind as I have developed the module to its current state, so although it is not currently possible, the requisite information about each attempt is there to be worked with. I think it would be quite a big job, so for the time being I will add it to the list of future HotPot enhancements:
all the best
For (1) Using the Clue button is okay but it means that there are about 10 buttons doing the same thing.
Thanks for telling me where to change for the score.
I will speak to Stewart and ask how much it would be for there to be a configurable Hint.
Thanks for looking into it.
the strange numbers are unicode. It appears that the leading "\" has been removed from the unicode characters. Sorry about that.

I will look at it there and try and sort it out.
thanks in advance
I have done what you said. I will wait for your response.
The course you uploaded the files was in a Moodle 1.5 site, using Hotpot v2.0.10. I tested both the ".jcl" and ".htm" files and the Hints worked OK.
I looked again at the link you originally gave to the quiz on the moodle.org site, and it appears that moodle.org is using HotPot v2.0.9. Maybe the problem could be fixed by instsalling the most recent stable HotPot onto moodle.org.
I guess Martin D. would be in charge of that. Are you able to ask him to do that?
Paola, the Hints on your HotPot quiz now work wonderfully!
All of the quizzes including the one using Moodle media player work perfectly!
And thanks in return for introducing and recommending Moodle and the HotPot module on several Italian discussion groups I have come across. "Eccellente" work!
