I upgraded to 3.3 from 3.3. Everything is ok except that the course overview interface is still the old one without the new timeline feature. How to solve this?

I solved it by uninstalling course overview(legacy) and then putting myoverview block into use.

Glad to hear you solved the problem. Thanks for posting and letting us know.
I'm not sure how you ended up with the old course overview block in 3.3 though, as when you upgrade to 3.3 it is removed (as mentioned in the section 'Possible issues that may affect you in Moodle 3.3' in the documentation Upgrading).
