Images don't show. Needs second login?

Hi All,

I'm using a Moodle 3.1.5 installation with a very strange problem.

The images don't load?

I've done a little test:

Opened a course. No images?

Next, Right click. to open image in a new tab.

Resulting in:

A new login?

After a refresh (F5) the images show up????

To reproduce this again. Log-out, Shift-F5, login again and start all over again?

Any suggestions?

Hans.

So you are having to login again when you click on refresh?

I still suspect a cache issue - perhaps try manually deleting localcache and cache folders from your moodleDATA folder (not the Moodle code folder) and see if that helps.

What authentication are you using?  When did this start?  Was it working correctly before?  What changed?

not sure when this started. It started with 'some times an image didn't display'. When I was on something like Moodle 2.6(?) and it got slightly stronger with PHP, I think 5.3/4(?)
Also after migrating to a (shared hosting) 64-bit platform the 'sometimes no image problems' remained.
Now I've moved, since april of this year', My moodle site to a company that's dedicated to Moodle. I don't have root access and full-admin rights anymore. It looks that the image not displaying problems got stronger.
It's now on Moodle 3.1.5 and PHP 7 (Ubuntu 16.04)
Ofcourse I've opend a support ticket with them but they didn't solved it.

HI Emma,

I've done a little test to rule out some possible problems.

Disables MathJax didn't solve the problem

Change Thema Adaptable to Clean.

Cleared the theme cache.

And finally, cleared all caches with /admin/purgecaches.php. After this the images are back.

Because I've done this before I know the problem will come back.

So It might be that it's a server side cache problem

Hans.

If you are hosted with a moodle hosting partner, you really need to go back to them about this...you might also check the slash arguments settings.  Sometimes turning that on or off will fix issues like this.

Hi Emma,

At this moment there's not much progress.

I've done some testing myself and also informed the Moodle hosting provider with my results.

If an image is NOT visible it's adres is: http://xyzabc.nl/pluginfile.php/7183/mod_label/intro/RPE-icon.png

If the image is visible the address of the image is also: http://xyzabc.nl/pluginfile.php/7183/mod_label/intro/RPE-icon.png

But if I open the label-editor. Insite the label the address turned out to be: http://www.xyzabc.nl/pluginfile.php/7183/mod_label/intro/RPE-icon.png

there's a www?

It's a bit strange.

ps: the website url xyzabc doesn't exist.

Does your site use www?  Has this site been migrated/url updated?  Have you checked permissions on your moodledata folder?

Hi Emma,

The problem could be traced back to the use of both url's the with and without 'WWW' URL's.

The hosting/Moodle provider modified this on there server.

Problem looks solved.

Thanks for your input.
