Wondering if anyone has encountered this peculiar issue. I've not found any mention of it anywhere.
When I try to Auto-create groups, the "Select members with role" drop-down menu ONLY shows 'All'. None of the roles of users enrolled in the course are listed. Please see the screenshots attached.
This renders the functionality unusable as other non-student users also get added to groups.
We use custom roles, but all of them are derived from the standard archetypes. The standard/default roles are not used in any context. We haven't modified any code either and are running Moodle 3.1.4+ (Build: 20170119). I checked on the demo and qa sites, and this issue does not occur there.
My guess is that it has something to do with the custom roles (standard roles that have been further restricted), but am not sure how to fix it. Is there any specific permission to be enabled?
I enabled the original default student role (for testing purposes) and it worked without a hitch.
How do I get this functionality to work with my custom roles?
