Hello everybody!

I got a problem with moodle 3.0.8.

I created a test user on moodle and he isn't able to go to the message menu. I changed the role and changed the rights for the user, but the message menu doesn't show up. I've got the problem when i give the user the roles student and authenticated user.

It would be nice if someone have a guess what's wrong.

I really appreciate any help! Thank you

Al

Have you enabled messaging in Site Admin > Advanced features?

If it's on, you shouldn't need to alter the roles and permissions.

What theme are you using? That's not a standard theme in your screenshot. Have you changed to one of the standard themes to check if it appears there?

Yes the messaging option is enabled. I use the theme adaptable v 1.3.1.1.

I tried it with the standard theme and the messaging menu appears, so it's probably a problem with the theme...

Thanks again for your help Jon!

The Adaptable theme has an additional setting for messages.

Go to Site administration > Appearance > Themes > Adaptable > Header and tick the box for 'Message menu'.

The box is just for the message button in the header. When I tick the box, the message menu in the header appears, but the problem is still there.
