Self enrolment not working after upgrading to version 3.0.3

Hello,

I recently upgraded from version 2.3.3 to version 3.0.3.

Before the upgrade students had no trouble self enrolling into a course. Now when they enter the enrolment key and click the "Enrol me" button the page loads for about 5-10 minutes. 

Can someone please help?

Switch on Debugging. Reproduce the error. Check your web server's error log. Hopefully, something useful will be logged. It probably gets tricky if nothing is.
