I wish there were a notes field...

I'm trying to use the Attendance activity as my attendance sheet for the first time this semester, and I am having a bit of trouble transitioning from Excel to this, for one major reason in particular:

I have 100 students, which I only see once a week. Remembering faces/names is very difficult, and the way I've pulled it off over the years is to have a notes field in my attendance spreadsheet so I can write a quick description (that only I understand, in case someone sees it accidentally and doesn't like what I wrote) of that person. Without that, I don't know how I'd return homework.

It would be great if there were a notes field that was not visible to the student, and which is persistent across sessions.

(It'd also be a lot easier to use if the category headings were in a persistent frame or something. I have a lot of categories, and it's hard to remember what order they're in...)

Does this help? https://docs.moodle.org/32/en/Notes

It's not specific to the Attendance module, which in some ways might be useful.

  • Personal notes are only visible to you
  • Course notes are visible to other teachers in your (Moodle) course
  • Site notes are visible to all teachers.

Notes are not normally visible to students.
