I am using the newest version of Moodle.
When a student finishes a quiz, the tick goes blue instead of green. These are the settings for the quiz.
The passing grade is set.
The gradebook is set up as follows:
Course completion shows as blue tick and not green.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

After a lot of testing I found that if you don't tick the Mark in the review section of each activity, you will never get a green tick.
I'm having the same issue even when the "Mark" checkbox is enabled in the review section.
Can you elaborate on what you did?

All good, I realised I needed to require a grade checked as well as pass grade in activity completion.
You are lucky. I have the right boxes ticked requiring a grade and I have not ticked require view and the tick is still blue not green.
So just "Require Grade" and "Require passing grade" ticked?
Have you also specified a passing grade under the quiz settings?
I don't recall changing anything under course "gradebook setting" but everything looks ok there?
I had :
max grade - 6
min grade - 0
grade to pass -5
which i specified (well max and pass at least) under quiz settings.

I am currently experiencing the same behaviour with some quizzes. The tick appears blue instead of green, although the passing grade is passed.
I just found out that the culprit is the "review options".
When I select "Marks" under "Later, while the quiz is still open" and unlock the completion options, the ticks turn green.
Is this a bug?
We don't want the students to see their marks until the quiz is closed.
I don't think that is a bug. The green check would be an indicator of their grade which you say you don't want them to know until the quiz is closed.

I would prefer that students don't see any tick (neither blue, nor green) until the quiz is closed.
Currently, no tick appears until the student passes a quiz.
But as soon as a student passes one of multipe attempts, even though the quiz is not yet closed, a blue tick appears.
Students already found out about this behaviour and can share the correct answers immediately.
Besides that, the tick should be green and not blue if a passing grade is set and the corresponding activity completion setting.
