We have a very talented developer working on a new Moodle 3.2 enrollment plugin that operates just like Google Classroom!
Here is the workflow:
- Teacher adds our new enrollment plugin to their course.
- Upon activation the enrollment plugin page shows the teacher a unique 6 digit key for the main course as well as any groups in the course.
- On the Moodle homepage there will be a small enrollment box (kinda like the searchbox).
- Whatever 6 digit code the student enters will automatically enroll that student into the corresponding course and group! No searching. No navigating. Just enter the code and you are enrolled in the class and group if set.
This new plugin will be fully integrated with our Fordson theme and the enhanced frontpage of the Fordson theme will utilize this new enrollment method if present in your Moodle. It will make it very prominent and obvious for students to quickly and easily get them enrolled in classes.
We think this is one of the best ways to get K-12 kids into a course. Especially the younger ones.
This plugin is designed to be very simple and easy to use. The only options on the enrollment method are Open and Close Dates, On/Off for enrollments, and a checkbox that will regenerate new enrollment keys for all the groups and course upon save.
Depending on testing and rollout it might be about a week or so.
