I just finished a Moodle installation today using a 56k modem and installing into 50 Mb. I know that space won't last long but I just wanted to get it up and running at this stage.

Anyway, some size stats on Moodle 1.5.2+ in a Linux environment ...

The full Moodle tgz package was 14.9 Mb.
This unpacked to 138 Mb.
The /lang directory contained 102 Mb.

I pulled out all languages except EN and IT, and all themes except formal_white, then made a tar archive of the remainder.

Using gzip compression, a tar.gz package came to 5.57 Mb.
Using bzip2 compression, a tar.bz2 package came to 4.64 Mb.

Once unpacked on the server, the public_html directory contained 30 Mb. I'm not sure why the numbers don't tally (I expected 36 Mb given the numbers above) but it may be something to do with block sizes or whatever.

Anyway, that may give you some additional numbers to work with. Good luck!
