Elizabeth, we mainly provide online courses to enterprises.
Once a week we send a report to Human Resources department with information about the status of the training that includes:
- Student name
- Email
- City, Country
- Gender
- Course
- Start date
- Finish Date
- Advance % in the course
- Course grade
- Certificate code
- Certificate date
- Course evaluation grade (how they grade us)
- Course evaluation comments
- We also plan to include data about Competency Base Education
The objective of this report is to get support from Human Resources to fulfill on time the training of each individual.
We actually proceed this way to get all the information for each course:
- Query the Progress Bar plugin to get the advance percentage
- Query the Questionary
- Query the Certificates
- Maintain a data base in Excel where we consolidate the information
- Import it to Power BI
- Share the Power BI Dashboard to analyze the data
It would be great to just make one query, get all the information from all the courses/active students and directly connect it to Power BI (Big data analysis).
Actually Power Bi manages the concept of Content packs, software that can be developed to allow access (query) to external database information (Moodle), and this is the explicit solution I suggest.
In this way, every teacher, corporation, college or university can have live statistical data about each course or student.
Hope it helps the explanation. I also have prepared for you an example of the file I actually use to manage the data.
Best regards and if you need any more information, please let me know.
Carlos
