We have some issues with the performance of Moodle (Moodle 2.8.7+ (postgresql, Apache, clustered environment))
The performance in general is not bad. (pages load in 1-3 seconds on average)
But some functions take an absurd amount of time.
1. If I try to open “server files” as an admin the system just crash (it seems it cannot handle the amount of files I have access to (~500GB)
2. Whenever I try to delete or add a new plugin (or upgrade one) it takes around 15-20 MINUTES!
3. To create a new course, it takes around 20 seconds
4. To create an activity, around 5-8 seconds
We purged the logs (kept 365 days), (the database size were 5 Gbs then), we have around
4000 courses in the system currently. But this did not
really have any visible impact, also the system admins looked at the php, database config, etc. , but everything seems fine.
Do anyone has an idea what should we look at deeper? It looks something with database write speed.
Thanks and best regards,
Gabor
