Some random questions, after starting on a Moodle question bank from scratch tonight.

GENERAL FEEDBACK SHOWN AFTER QUESTION, DURING QUIZ.
Is there a way to have this configuration during a quiz:  Sequential quiz (essay questions) with general feedback displayed after submitting each question during the quiz?

TEACHER MARKED SHORT ANSWER
Is there a question type that enables short short essays (ie teacher marked short answers) ?

PRINTING QUESTIONS
Has anyone got a way to show all questions and answers (no other fancy detail needed) for audit purposed?  either all in a quiz or all in a category?

BULK RENAME
Is there a quick way to bulk rename questions if you have done a bad job of categorising and naming?

-Derek
Pretty sure I may have asked this before, but it was a long time ago.

  1. GENERAL FEEDBACK SHOWN AFTER QUESTION, DURING QUIZ
This works for anything other than manually graded questions (depending on which question behaviour you choose). Essay questions can only use the manual behaviour (irrespective of what you chose in the quiz settings) and with that behaviour the question only finishes (and hence general feedback is displayed) only when the whole quiz attempt is submitted.

This is something that it would be nice to make possible, because it is asked for from time to time, and one can see why. However, it is not the  most frequent request, and I don't have any brilliant ideas for how to achieve it yet.

  2. TEACHER MARKED SHORT ANSWER
This is exactly what the Essay question type does!

  3. PRINTING QUESTIONS
I am not sure what exists here that has been shared publicly. We have a report like this at the OU, but it does all the OU question types, and not all of the standard quiestion types, so we have never shared it. It is not fundamentally hard to do. Just yank all the data from the database, and print it in the format you want.

If this is really just for audit purposes, then might it be sufficient to export the quesitons in Moodle XML format? Not the most human readable, but does have all the data you need in a somewhat readable form.

  4. BULK RENAME
Not in standard Moodle. There is https://moodle.org/plugins/local_quickrenamequestioncategories for categories. Now that this bit of code exists: https://docs.moodle.org/dev/Inplace_editable, we should implement that for question and category names.

3. Printing Questions

The HTML question export plugin displays all the questions in a question bank category as a single HTML page, but unlike the standard HTML export view, it includes all the question metadata.

The WordTable plugin is similar, but exports questions into tables in Word format.

4. Bulk Rename

The WordTable plugin export format uses heading styles for categories and questions names, so if you view the exported file in Outline View in Word, and just display heading levels 1 and 2, you can quite easily and efficiently sort, re-organise and rename categories and question names. The View > Navigation Pane command also lets you navigate around a long document quite well. Once complete, you can re-import the questions from Word back into Moodle, although they are imported as new questions, and don't overwrite the existing ones.
