Our host upgraded to version 3.1 between semesters, and now that the new term has begun, we are getting a LOT of complaints about the new grader. I know a certain amount of push-back is just dislike for change. Several of the issues, though, are what I would consider legitimate.
Many of our faculty use Word markup/comments/track changes and send files back. This has several advantages:
- Several of our students use screen readers (blind/low vision), and the Word documents are more accessible than the marked up PDF generated by the grader
- Track changes is better for many things related to format. The student can see what something should have looked like.
- The PDF viewer seems to hang quite a bit
Is there any good way now, short of going out and using email, to send files back?
I am finding it hard to believe that the new grader is more limited than the old.
