How to disconect between E_Mails & forum

I have a forum on the main page of our moodle site.

Whenever I post an announcement to the forum

all our 17000 participants are getting an email from me.

How can I disable the possibility?

I was told by our computer center that this is one of the thing

that the Cron Mechanism does.

Login as an administrator, and click "Everyone is subscribed to this forum" at the top right corner of the screen.  Then click "Show/edit current subscribers" to make sure no one is subscribed.

If you do not want to force forum subscriptions, in your forum settings, set Force everyone to be subscribed?: to No.
