Scales in Moodle quiz

Scales in Moodle quiz

Is it possible to set up a Moodle quiz using scales instead of points ie. Satisfactory or Not yet satisfactory?

I am assisting a teacher that has 4 questions set up with long answer text answers but she doesn't want a point system for these.

I know that you can set up a new scale for the quiz but teachers won't go in and mark the quiz then go to the scale and change it. Is there an easier way?

Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem with additional processing in Excel. Scales in quizzes would be very useful thing to have. I need only to know for a student if he/she passes a quiz or not (e.g. score above 70%).

Thanks in advance.

One thing you can do, is to add an extra column in the grade book, which is a scale, and where the value is calculated from the quiz score.

That is not really what you want, because the scale value will not be shown in the quiz, only in the gradebook.

Thanks Tim. That's exactly what I did. I added a new grade item for the quiz result and this now records using the "Satisfactory" scale. You can also hide the quiz results from the gradebook so they can only see the new grade item. Students can see the results in the activity but not in the gradebook. Great!
