Hi Juan

Thank you for getting back to me on this.

I am using the dropbox Repository 2016052300 Plugin.
I have attached some images to explain what I do and what I am doing.

I start by placing a pdf in my Dropbox folder once it has synced I do the following:
  1. Go to course
  2. Add new File Resource
  3. As can be seen in Image 1 on my "File Picker" screen I have a Dropbox option.
  4. I then select the file that I want to add to the course and add it as "Create an alias/shortcut to the File"

I don't select "Make a copy" as I want to be able to in the future simply replace the file in Dropbox which then syncs with the system and auto-updates the file.

If you need more info please let me know

Hi,

sorry for my late response, what's your exact moodle version? I remember there is a bug related to external repositories.

The timemodified of the local linked file is not updated and we don't get notified about this update.

Hi Juan

We are currently using Version 3.1.1 (Build 20160901)

If needed I can update to the latest version.

Hello,

we are going to add some improvements and do a general testing of external repositories for the next version of Moodle and Moodle Mobile.

Unfortunately, this will require sites to be upgraded to 3.3 because right now is not possible to detect if a file is an external file linked or is a file uploaded to Moodle.

We will be checking how all the repositories in Moodle core works with the app (dropbox, s3, equella, box.net..)

Hi Juan

Thank you for the feedback.

When will 3.3 be available I recently updated to 3.2.2 so if I need to update the system again it's not a problem.
