Entire website crashes when streaming large videos

I am trying to setup a course that is a single page with a video file (mp4  file type) attached to it.
I am able to link/embed small videos ~100mb without any issues.

When I try to do the same with larger files ~300mb-900mb (tried 1 video that is 900mb or 3 video files that are 300mb each), I experience an issue. The page seems to load fine, but if I jump around back and forth in the video player, eventually I will get an error (see picture below). The error seems to appear quicker and more often with the larger file than the smaller one.

At the point I get the error message in the video player, the entire website is down for all users. It automatically goes back up after 10-30 seconds (probably some cache that regularly gets cleared)

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

I get the same results whether running on our externally hosted production server (dedicated host with plenty of resources) as well as our smaller internal servers.

Moodle:  3.1.2
Server OS: Windows Server 2012 , IIS 8      also tried on Windows Server 2008 R2  with similar results
PHP:  5.6.23

I thought most folks would upload their videos to Youtube and let Youtube take care of the hosting concerns. The uploaded videos can be made non-searchable on Youtube, and as long as anyone has access to the video URL, it will play from anywhere, any time.

Unfortunately, youtube access is restricted on many computers our users use to access the website

Piotr, are you using a third party video player? or they are simply embedded?

Also, which format are these videos in?

By any chance can I peek into your server? RDC or TeamViewer?

These video files sit on our server and are played using moodle default player. (I believe it's flowplayer)
I have tried mp4 ( H.256 + AAC encoded) as well as webm.

Sorry, but I would not be able to provide you with remote access.

The very same thing happened for me as well.

Mine is intranet with Windows Server 2008 with 10GB Ram, 2.4 GHz

The number of users were 60 and the MP4 being played was just 3MB.

Any suggestions or solutions plz...
