How to configure if Category total fail leads to Course total fail?

In a course, there are 2 categories - Exam (20%) and Others (80%)

I have set the "Grade to pass" for exam is 40% and for course total is 30%

But the question is, if a student failed in Exam (e.g. 35%), but he/she got a high grade in Others (e.g. 95%).
In this case, I want to configure he/she should be failed also, but I don't know how to set.

Here is some examples:

Exam (20%)    Others (80%)   Total (100%)
100                  0                        20                          Fail (Total not pass)
0                      100                    80                          Fail (Exam not pass)
100                 15                       32                          Pass (Both Exam and Total pass)

Anyone know how to set? Thanks!

You can just make it where the course is not completed until both conditions are attained in course completion settings and use that to show completion.  Then just remove the grade to pass for the course in the gradebook but set it in completion settings.

Hi Frank,

As an alternative to Emma's answer, you can use grade calculation for your final grade. See some samples HERE and HERE.

With kind regards,
