When looking at the Optional fields in the user profile, I can't help but think that they look a bit last century. With the exception of Skype, the rest are things that I haven't used in years (or ever!) and have never seen being used by a user.
Wouldn't it be more appropriate to have a social media category including, for example, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn et al? These are portals that are actually used by the majority of course participants nowadays.
Yes, I know it's possible to put them in by hand, but I really think they should be available by default. It would at least look a bit more up to date than ICQ, AIM and Yahoo. I also can't imagine this would be hard or costly to implement.
Interested to know what other people think.
