This must be a full time job for you. I am sorry. And grateful.
I made this
And then uploaded it to my moodle.
At first I uploaded the html film (along with the js file and the audio but that did not work (probably a path problem - the js file could not be found) so
I uploaded the hotpotatoes XML file and that did/does work
The hint button names and list of words do not seem to appear.
The hint button names that I specified ("play" in Japanese) is replaced by the default "[?]" and in the box for the list of gapped out words there is a "1".
Just in case you have the time, I will send you a password off list.
thanks very much for the feedback.
When I looked in the code I found that the caption for clue buttons was always set to "?", whereas it should be picked up from the XML file. Oops, sorry about that! I fixed the code and tested it on a copy of your quiz. Works OK now
I also fixed the code to adjust relative URLs in <SCRIPT> tags. The latest version of the HotPot module (v2.1) does this anyway, but I have also adjusted the code in HotPot v2.0, which you are using, so you can go ahead and use "demo.html" now too
If you are using HotPot v2.0 (Moodle 1.5), I have attached the amended "lib.php" to this message. It goes in the "moodle/mod/hotpot" folder.
If you are using HotPot v2.1 (Moodle 1.6), please download the modified scripts from the Moodle CVS depository.
Once again many thanks for alerting me two these two problems and please keep the bug reports coming in.
all the best!
Thank you very much indeed for looking into this and curing the problem so very quickly. I am very pleased indeed. I needed this demo in a rush.
I put the lip.php in and the new test displays the hint buttons just as they should be.
However, while I hate to point this out when at the recieving end of such uncommon generousity, I concealed a third problem inside my previous post, that concerning the list of gapped-out words.
The standalone test has the gapped out words in a list above the CLOZE, but the moodle version does not. In place of the missing words is the single digit "1." This issue is not of pressing urgency, but should you have time...
Thanks very much indeed.
I'm afraid HotPot v2.0 doesn't generate a word list for JCloze, so I suggest you revert to the HTML version of the quiz, as I have fixed the setting of relative URLS in the <SCRIPT> tags required for the HTML version to work.
You will be pleased to know that HotPot v2.1 does generate a wordlist when a JCloze is run from its XML file. However since we are in the middle of term, it is probably better not to upgrade just at the moment.
Hope the demo goes well
Thanks very much Gordon. That works just fine now.
I will ask Jamie how he is getting on with the mobile phones.
