When I try to add a backup file (an .mbz file) as an alias to my manage course backups panel (ie. here: /backup/backupfilesedit.php within the course restore section) it does not show the alias after I save. I have run tests with moodle 2.9.2, 3.0.4 and 3.1.2. The obvious use case I am going for is to link to a backup within a file repository without having to copy the file. However even if I try to create an alias to a file already in the server files the alias does not show in the list of files in the Course Backup Area (ie. here: /backup/restorefile.php?contextid=2 ) nor if I click on the manage backup files again. I can see in the files table in the db that the draft of the alias is created (which happens prior to the post to /backup/backupfilesedit.php) but not the real file alias record.
Am I missing something simple or is this a bug?
