Using a rubric for performance testing

A rubric has been a great way for us to test students in a hands-on environment, in this case operating certain pieces of equipment. It allows us to use criteria levels to do things like "10 pts - Performed alone; 5 pts - Required assistance to complete; 0 pts - Could not perform at all." This is all great, BUT...

Is there a way to specify that if certain criteria are not performed without assistance, the assessment (test) is automatically failed?
