Exactly that! I was looking at this before I posted as I thought, like you it is when editing is enabled that the move cross hair icon is placed next to the activity, this needing more space. But the padding is added to the indent outer class when in the normal state which makes the indent too wide.
I'll open a tracker and try and get it fixed.
