Search box is the same as Clean etc. so not seen any theme that prevents the 'toggle' of it. A solution needs to be worked out.
"Guest icon" - probably by editing the PHP or using 'display: none' on the given element if won't conflict with the logged in icon. Browser development tools are useful for working out the latter and learning PHP the former.
