...which I really like btw!
What does the "share files from the main page" option actually do? A colleague has suggested that it allows sharing across the entire Moodle site... is that the case?
Is it possible for teachers (not just admins but I don't even know that they can do it) to browse files students have shared, even if the files aren't explicitly shared with the teacher(s)? (supplementary question... what MyFiles activity is logged in the logs?)
thanks for any answers...
I have the same questions as I am now using this useful tool too.
Also.. if I click NO for allow users to share with other members (students), they can still share.
As of now, it is not possible for teachers to view other students shared files unless they are explicitly shared to them. An admin can view other shared by logging in as that student. Future developments of this block may give admins and possibly teachers a page to view all files, shared or not, from users to view for copyrighted/illegal content etc.
BTW last time i checked, the 'no' option for the 'allow to share to other course members' option works...make sure that you are clicking on the update button after every change...before switching pages.
And I dont believe that there were any plans to make shared files to go through a teacher before being shared to other students, although I do like this idea for security reasons. I may put an option in the admin section to only allow shared files to be shared to a teacher, who then must review/approve of it before being shared to the other course members.
I'm sure that schools would welcome a setting that only allowed students to share with the teacher. The way we are doing this at the moment means setting up assignments - teacher downloads and then uploads and makes available through the file link. Another way would be through the attachment in a forum.
I think the share to teacher option in MyFiles would be really neat.
Is there a document that describes how MyFiles is intended to be used? Thanks!
