What would be the recommended process to move several individual course backups from the default data directory to another directory and update the database references ?

It would be easier to just set up the automated backups to start using the new directory and not worry about the old ones or delete them out manually. Moodle tends to hide the backup files that in the course directories and there is not a simple process to move them.
