So a colleague and I just encountered with a 2.8.7 instance and a 2.7.3 instance that the Activity report in Administration block > Course administration sums the views of all roles in the course including the teacher role! Try it yourself and run an Activity report then click a resource or activity. Run the report again and it will have incremented by one. This is true in the latest release 3.0 and the 3.1 prototypes.
I can't expect any teacher would care how many times they click on their own resources. What they really want (and expect) to see from this report is how their class of students are engaging in the course content. So, in this current state, this report is not providing any good data for the teacher role it is created for.
If teachers really want to see a report on their own activity, they can do that under My profile settings > Activity reports > Outline report.
If anyone has input on this and agrees with me, I am happy to submit a tracker item to request this gets adjusted so only student role is shown by default and there is a pulldown menu to filter by other roles.
