Thank you so much my friend. I watched the videos and figured out what i did wrong. My updated site is now up thanks to you! And I now understand how to update for the future. I really appreciate your help!
I copied the wrong config.php file to my new moodle folder. That's all it was, but it reminded me that's how it is in life with everything. One little thing - one little, minor mistake can be the difference between success and utter disaster.
