Messaging Teacher > Student and Student > Teacher (Moodle 3.0.3)

Hello,

I'm trying to find a way to set up messaging so that students do not have permission to send messages to each other, but may send messages to their instructors. I might just be missing something, but it appears I can enable teachers the ability to send messages by setting system roles with that capability and then just turning it off for students. The challenge is that I need students to be able to send messages, but only to their teachers.

Does that make sense? Is there a system flag or capability I'm missing that would enable this to happen, or do I need to find some way to hack in something that prevents messages between users that have the role number of 5?

Thanks

Ryan:

Check out this thread: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=55934

I have read it in detail, but it has some recent posts.

My solution: switch messaging off and install the dialogue module.https://moodle.org/plugins/mod_dialogue
This enables attachments, tracking, images, formatting etc and is personal to tutor<>students.
