I teach German language in Thailand. Up to now my institution did not use an LMS officially. I started using Moodle however unofficially with my own classes. After getting some experience with Moodle, I presented it to my boss who liked what he saw. Right now he is thinking of introducing Moodle. However, to actually use Moodle effectively, I would have to integrate it into our existing database system.
Right now, enrolment data for our classes is being collected within a
Microsoft SQL server. So that kind of data does not need to processed within Moodle itself, but as we have about 1,000 students, enroling them by hand would take quite a time.
As I have no access to the server yet (the decision to use Moodle has
yet to be finalized), I would like to know your suggestions of how to
do this (and off course whether my plan is possible).
Another option would be to generate a plain text file from the MS SQL server and upload it into Moodle. But what about students who have an account already and who advance to the next class. Would there be any kinds of complications with some sort of double users?
Are there any documentations on the Enrolment and the Authentication modules I could use?
Any advice would be highly appreciated.
