Just to be clear, can I confirm you are talking about option 4) from my previous post?
There is no way to limit the number of redos. I suppose that could be done (change the options for the Allow redo within an attempt setting to No, Unlimited, 1, 2, 3, 4, ...) the change the other code to enforce that. Someone would need to develop that enhancement, but it could be done. Feel free to log it in the Tracker.
