Actually, Twitter (I haven't looked at the others) places the permalink in the date AND as a hyperlinked "Copy link to Tweet" text in the footer of each tweet, Best of both worlds
Incidentally, I've been using Twitter since 2007. I use the footer permalink a lot. I only learned of the permalink in the date through this discussion so -1 for intuition
