I am attaching some suggestions of improvements to the data and layout of the Moodleplugins site. These are based on providing more quality information for each plugin in ways that make it easier for the community to make decisions on the reliability of the plugin.
There are essentially two ideas here:
1) Create more automated testing tools for developers to run their plugins through, so that each upload can display those results.
2) Tie functional reviews to the plugin itself rather than the upload, and provide more standardized review sections and categorizations.
For the automated tools, we have been expanding out the test features provided by the moodle-plugin-ci plugin. Ideally the results of these tests (or something similar if it exists), could be linked to from each plugin download version. This would require every plugin to go through this process.
For the standardized review process, it would be good if we could all agree on standardized sections and meta-data categories. Doing so would enable more future enhancements, including better searching for appropriate plugins.
I am providing a link of a brief overview of what we are thinking of, and would love to begin discussions if anyone is interested.
