Yeah.. giving rights to student to view other students grades would take some consideration. But it is okay as long as they don't have to change or configure the grades of other students. only view them. My goal was just to see the grade report by other students, that's it, to see there rankings in the class together with some grades.  And fortunately as what you have mentioned changing the role of the student do the trick. Much like the non-editing teacher, where the role can view the grade report.
