Occasionally content from a course or the entire course is accidentally deleted. To restore the data we have database backups that are easy to access and restore in a development environment. Restoring submitted student assignments is our challenge, we want to avoid full tape restores as they are slow and time consuming.
Can files from a deleted course or assignment be restored from folder 'moodledata/trashdir'?
Does this folder contain deleted course files for 1-4 days before the cron job permanently deletes them?
Does the cron job delete files after 1 day or 4? I've read other moodle forums where both 1 and 4 days are mentioned, such as from https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=280408 https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=166792 https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=191275
If I can obtain the file location from the database restore could I find these files in 'moodledata/trashdir' if the scheduled deletion hasn't occurred yet?
