We have our own custom LMS for our online language courses which we have already integrated with Moodle by implementing BLTI to provide single sign-on capability. However now we would like to take this a step further and return grades back to Moodle, as well as explore what other possibilities are available using full LTI.
I have found it very difficult to get "useful" information about what is possible within LTI as I find that the official documentation at the www.imsglobal.org/lti site is not the easiest material to digest!
I would first like to know how what on how to go about returning grades which are not simple scores such as 45%. e.g. one particular level of our general language courses are made up of 10 units, with 5 different scores for each unit (vocab, grammar, listening, etc), making a total of about 50 different scores for the whole level. We will always convert these individual scores into an overall grade but teachers will like to be able to see the individual scores to see if students need more help with a particular area (such as vocab or grammar).
I wonder if anyone would be able to point me in the right direction to get information on how to format the data to pass the grades in this format back to Moodle via LTI, and how they can be displayed in Moodle.
Finally, I am also interested in learning more about LTI in general, I wonder if this is the best place to discuss LTI and how to learn more about it or is there another more open forum (which isn't just Moodle specific) where I could visit?
