We have recently upgraded to Moodle 2.9.3 from 2.5.4 (i know, big jump!), and are running into a snag with some unique gradebooks in our system.
I'm looking for an easy to reproduce the following:
The teacher(s) in question want to be able to calculate a category total representative of all the work done in the course, then based on overall attendance, subtract a single point from that total for each day where the student went over their attendance limit.
So for instance, if I received a 100 for the course, but was two days over my limit, my final grade would be a 98.
As a student I would see a 100 for my "course work" category title, then a separate grade (-2) for my attendance, bringing me to the total of 98.
The teacher wants the students to be able to see their category total for all work, as well as the points deducted for missed attendance, so the students see how their course total was calculated.
Currently all course activities are using weighted means (as well as that category itself). We can switch to Natural weighting if that makes this process easier, as we can still weight from within that aggregation method.
Any ideas or recommendations? I'm guessing it'll probably involve modifying the total course calculation, but that seems cumbersome.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!
