We are using Moodle 2.8 and have a question about how Advance Grading Methods are stored.
When teachers create a Rubric, where is it saved? With the assignment, in a course, or is it connected to their user account?
We ask because if a teacher creates a rubric while making an assignment in one course. . . but then the course is deleted. . . will the rubric still be accessible under the teacher's account?
Advanced Grading methods are stored in multiple tables, the central one being grading definitions. A definition can be associated with more than one assignment in a course but if the course is deleted you won't be able to get to the definition as the data that points to the courseid will be pointing to a non existent course. They are not associated with the user that created them.
There is a note in the documentation about how you can share them, though in my view it would be better if there was a way to export to XML like with quiz questions.
I have created a database diagram that illustrates the structure used with advanced grading though it might not be very helpful if you are not a database person.
The image will appear zoomed out and tiny, clicking on it will zoom in in most browsers.
Thank you Marcus - this is very helpful!
I have one follow up question. Although the rubrics are associated with a course. . . if a teacher is in their Civics course and selects the option to "include my own forms" when searching for a template, will they be able to access rubrics they created in Geography? When I do a search like this I see rubrics from various courses, but I am not sure if that is because of my level of permissions.
